Description:
'The installation is a display of dated audio equipment which features a vinyl copy of the artist's specially recorded re-creation of the song "Only You can Do It", originally sang by chanteuse Francoise Hardy.
The artist has re-recorded the song and cut the result onto an acetate disc. The record consists of five 3min tracks on each side of the record. Each track plays a different instrument or a vocal part of the song culminating in the grouping of every layer in the final version of the song.
The audio disc is available to play on the record deck and Hi-Fi set up. The record itself is a one off vinyl acetate disc.
The audio equipment includes a Garrard transcription turntable on top of a teak effect plastic and metal tubing bedside table. The turntable is wired to a Quad pre-amp and sound is played through a pair of wood cabinet B&W speakers. The installation also features a vintage Hospital wheelchair set-up with Rhodes valve microphone hanging from a boom arm.'
