Description:
‘This sculpture is inspired by Besmirch’s faintly remembered, missing right leg. He adapted his artificial limb into a carving tool (a prosthetic with a chisel instead of a foot), and used this tool to render his lost limb. The memory of this, infected by the exaggerated plastic musculature of the hybrid “He-Man” toys he played with during his recovery, emerges in this very fine carving.’
