These are not found paintings, or packaging, graphic design or road signs, yet they bring together elements of these to question how much we expect art to communicate, and how much we insist on valuing objects like paintings materially.
Artist's Statement:
Over the past year I've collected the print registration symbols and colour checks that are trimmed from the edges of commercially printed pictures or hidden within the underside of packaging. These symbols enable the correct reproduction of images. These functional devices become a point of departure for something comparatively separate and self-justifying.
