Description:
Minmei Madelynne Pryor Went into the Dryer is the first in an indefinitely ongoing project with the title character. Each series has 20 narrative images, this one’s a sort of coming of age story, where I played with the areas of identity construction that occur between fantasy, the influence of others and privacy. I use the Minmei series as a way of integrating loads of disparate interests, beyond the obvious influence of Alice in Wonderland I was also exploring the late prints of Goya, T’ang Dynasty sculpture, the1980’s anime Robotech, the photography of Terry Richardson, Winsor McCay’s pioneering comic strip from the early 1900’s Little Nemo in Slumberland, Shunga prints and probably some other stuff I haven’t noticed yet.
