Description:
At first glance, irreverent, unabashed gestural marks, splodge, drip and ripple their way across the surfaces of Katie Pratt's paintings. Events in paint are then highlighted by a language of small strokes and dashes that act as a forensic study of the initial painting. Like a pseudo-scientific diagram, they highlight the creases and imperfections of paint, translating them into a strange analytical shorthand that is then reclaimed by the ground from which they came.
