'In one image in "Hand/Mirror", a torch beam, enabling the camera/beholder to see, shines on to a hand-held mirror (a shorthand reference to early claims that photography ‘held a mirror up to nature’s face), dazzling both: in the second image, what we see is an eclipse - in effect, a blind spot.'

Description:
'Ruth Mylius uses photography in a way which is conceptual and almost sculptural. By positioning images to face one another in Hand/Mirror, we are invited to both view and participate in the work and are willingly deceived into believing that a photograph of a mirror has reflective qualities.'
