‘When viewed from above, our apparently chaotic and abused environment transforms into an elaborate, abstract mosaic of man's interaction with nature. It brings to light the enormity of our surroundings beyond the perceptions of the naked eye. The language contained in maps, diagrams and satellite photography is the genesis of my work. Specifically, it is the dichotomy between data and reality that inspires me to produce works that assimilate the geography of a setting. The translation of technical data into a more physical presence, altering context and scale, imbues it with an alternative meaning and perspective. It hovers somewhere between abstraction and reality, a reconstruction as opposed to a representation. It echoes a sense of place, explored in sections, juxtaposing subject and surface, to reinvent the first physical experience of a landscape.’
